AfricAvenir - Foundation for African Renaissance, Development, International Cooperation and Peace (Douala/Cameroon)
AfricAvenir was founded as an NGO in Douala, Cameroon, before becoming a foundation in 1993. From the very beginning, AfricAvenir's aim was to promote initiatives of endogenous development, to reduce Cameroon's and Africa's external dependency and to restore consciousness and pride in local African culture and history. However, AfricAvenir has always been open to the rest of the world, promoting exchanges and trying to foster a 'Collective Destiny Perspective' so urgently needed in the emerging global village. In 2000 then, while the founder of AfricAvenir was a visiting professor at the Free University in Berlin, a German section was founded. Originally a student group at the Department of Political Science of the Free University of Berlin (Afrosi), it has since established as an active NGO. [Read More]
